Introducing:The Belmont Shore Book Club and Book #1 for February

My name is Scott Jones and I have lived in Belmont Shore all of my life. I can't think of a better place to live, play, and be. My desire is to get to know you (my neighbors) and that you might have the opportunity get to know your neighbors as well. One way that I am going to attempt this is that I am starting a book club on Second Street. Not only is literature fun and exciting, but as we have experienced, it is much more enjoyable when shared with others. I am calling this adventure The Belmont Shore Book Club. My hope is that through this journey with one another that we could better represent the love that this city radiates. Our first book is"The Road" by Cormac McCarthy. It just won the Pulitzer Prize, so it should be a good one. Our first meeting is Monday, February 25th at Aroma Di Roma, 5327 E. 2nd Street, Long Beach, CA 90803 from 7 to 9pm. It will be a time to reflect on the book through conversation and most of all to get to know each other a little better. I hope to start with three groups, which means that we will probably meet at other coffee shops as well, and on other dates that might work better for others.
